Interrupting the hiatus to bring you, imho, this fabulous picture of @nhacizade
One day, sitting in Doha back in 2011, going through CV’s, this amazing one jumped out at me. It was Nigar’s. The rest, comme on dit, is history.
Sometimes the picture simply appears, asking to be taken. #Vilnius #Lithuania #ajreunion
A long long time and many countries ago I had a boss who decided not to renew my contract. That was after bringing in new partners to work with, including a former head of state and an ambassador who wanted to fund us etc. After that I started a company which failed, taking most of my savings with it and I had no income for almost a year. It was tough. But I kept going. I had weak moments yet family and friends believed in me when I almost thought I was a failure and almost ready to quit. Then these doors opened, which I had never imagined. This pic is from a few weeks ago at #Facebook’s #Journalism Project. I look at moments like this and still ask, ‘how did THIS happen?! How did I get here?!?!’ It happens because you have to keep hustling. Don’t listen to the naysayers- and there are plenty, theirs is just an opinion which more often than not comes from a place of insecurity from their perspective, not yours. It’s such a blessing to have these opportunities, to be recognised and as the second pic spotted in @facebook’s offices reminds, to stay humble- now my desktop pic.
This post was inspired by @dylanwerneryoga who recently wrote about how he got to where he is. His words caught me at a moment of lows and challenges and reminded that we all start somewhere. It’s just like climbing a mountain. Sometimes you have to go down in order to ascend. 😎🤗
Shout out and a lot of love to team ‘you know who you are.’ 🙏🏼
